This chair was designed by Adolf Schneck, a Stuttgart architect who wrote the standard book of the 1920s on chair design entitled Dr Stuhl. The chair admirably reflects the simplicity of furniture then being made under the influence of the Bauhaus, and is interesting historically because it shows the personal taste of Pevsner, the leading historian of Modernism, a decade before he wrote his seminal work Pioneers of Modern Design in 1936.

This model is included in the V&A, London collection under the number W.7-1976.

[Cette chaise a été conçue par Adolf Schneck, architecte de Stuttgart qui a écrit le livre de référence des années 1920 sur la conception des chaises : Dr Stuhl. Elle reflète parfaitement la sobriété des meubles qui étaient alors fabriqués sous l'influence du Bauhaus. Sur le plan historique, cette chaise est intéressante car elle témoigne du goût personnel de Pevsner, principal historien du modernisme, une décennie avant qu'il n'écrive son ouvrage fondamental Pioneers of Modern Design en 1936.
