Uniformly rebound in half navy blue Oasis goatskin over marbled paper-covered boards, spines with raised bands in six compartments, lettered and tooled in 24-carat gold with Churchill rampant lion crest on each spine, upper edges gilt, some fading to inscriptions on front free endpapers.


FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, PRESENTATION COPY, SIGNED TWICE BY CHURCHILL,


and inscribed: “Inscribed by Winston S. Churchill for Arthur Meighen Nov. 1929” on the front free endpapers, respectively, of books 3 and 4.


Arthur Meighen served as Canadian Prime Minister in 1921 and again in 1926. He was leader of the Canadian Conservative Party from 1941-1942.
