i) Typed letter signed, as Foreign Minister, to Rabbi I.L. Maimon, discussing current affairs, including the arrest of members of Brit HaKanaim, his support for the laws before Parliament granting the army the right to recruit women, other issues relating to women's rights, and the conflict of interest between Jewish religious authorities and the State, 3 pages, folio, headed stationery, docketed with ink stamp, Tel Aviv, 11 June 1951

ii) Typed letter signed, as Head of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, to G. Agronski of the Jerusalem Post, recommending that a letter of criticism should be sent to a Hebrew rather than an English language newspaper, 1 page, small folio, headed stationery of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, 4 July 1939

iii) Autograph letter signed, to Mr Reichman, on his love of the work of the Russian poet Lermontov, 2 pages, large 8vo, headed stationery, 19 Balfour Street, Jerusalem, 24 October 1964, with autograph envelope

Moshe Sharett (1894-1965), as a senior member of Israel's first governments, was heavily involved in early Israeli debates over secularisation - debates which spilled into violence with the anti-secular campaign of the Brit HaKanaim movement in the early 1950s.
