Perhaps Canova's most famous model, the group of Cupid and Psyche was an immediate success, and the subject of many copies and reworkings. The monumental size group in the Louvre continues to draw visitors from across the globe (museum no. MR 1777). It was designed to be viewed from different angles, and was originally placed on a revolving base. The present marble group is a high quality version at half the size of the original.
