MUHAMMAD B. MAHMOUD B. HAJI AL-SHIRWANI, RAWDAT AL-‘ITAR, A TREATISE ON DRUGS AND REMEDIES, COPIED BY MUSTAFA B. YUSUF, TURKEY, OTTOMAN, DATED 911 AH/1505-06 AD
Arabic manuscript on paper, 214 leaves, 21 lines to the page, written in naskh in black ink, titles and important words written in red, f.1a with the title written within a polychrome cartouche, in a brown leather binding, decorated with gilt stamped medallions
25.8 by 18.2cm.
Another copy of this manuscript dated to the eighteenth century is now in the Wellcome Library (inv.no.WMS Arabic 443, published in Serikoff 2005, pp.254-8). For other copies see Brockelmann, S., II. 327. According to Brockelmann, the Rawdat al-‘Itar was dedicated to the grandson of Sultan Bayezid I (r.1389-1402), Orhan, in 800 AH/1397 AD.
