DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER

SIGNATURE ("DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER") ON THE COVER PAGE OF A PHOTOSTATIC COPY OF A TRANSCRIPTION OF HIS INTERVIEW BY BRUCE CATTON, "EISENHOWER ON LINCOLN AS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF"

13 pages (11 x 8 1/2 in.; 280 x 216 mm) on typing paper, [New York?, 1963]; stapled at top left, some light creases top right.

In early 1963, historian Bruce Catton interviewed former president Eisenhower at his home in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for an NBC television special, "Americans in Crisis: Eisenhower on Lincoln as Commander-in-Chief." The show was one in a series of historical profiles sponsored by the Union Central Life Insurance Company and aired on 11 February 1963. Throughout the interview—as shown in the present transcription—Ike demonstrated his knowledge of the Civil War and his great admiration of Lincoln.
