All That Is Glorious Around Us: Property from an Important American Collector
1800 - 1842
signed C. Codman and dated 1835 (lower left)
oil on canvas
19 ⅛ by 22 ⅛ inches
(41.6 by 56.2 cm)
The canvas is lined with wax, mounted to aluminum and the original tacking edges trimmed. There are frame abrasions along the extreme outer edges with surface cracking throughout. Under UV: the work appears to retain an uneven varnish; there appear to be fine lines of inpaint to address surface cracking throughout the sky and center mountain and a few areas of inpainting in the dark tree at lower left.
