BAULE ZOOMORPHIC FIGURE, CÔTE D'IVOIRE

Wood, pigments

Height: 21 in (53.3 cm)

Very good condition overall for an object of this age and type with wear consistent with use. A vertical age crack of varying width running down from the top of the head, through the proper left side of the face, down the proper left center of the chest, and inside the upper half of the proper left leg. Feet are fragmentary with losses to the front and back; a segment of the left forefoot broken and glued, and a couple of other broken and glued parts. The burlap skirt is dry and fragile. Very fine thick and encrusted ritually applied patina. Has stand.
