A jewelled gold and hardstone snuff box, probably Berlin, possibly for the Russian Market, circa 1770


rectangular, mounted en cage, the bloodstone lid and side panels carved with diamond-set rococo scrollwork enhanced by rubies, the lid centred with an exuberant firework display of variously-shaped diamonds above an oriental architectural capriccio, the protruding thumbpiece richly chased and set with further rose diamonds, each corner applied with a diamond-set miniature doric column, stepped base, unmarked, in fishskin case,
