Overall in very good condition. A superb and rare example of Jean-Michel Frank’s “Croisillon” lamp design in gilt bronze, the present lot originally came from Hotel Horizonte in Mar del Plata, Argentina. The gilt bronze surfaces have recently been sensitively cleaned and polished by a professional conservator to restore their original surface, and hence present with a slightly cleaner and more homogenous gilt surface than pictured in the catalogue photography which is slightly too red in coloration. The bronze surfaces present with light surface scratches throughout, which are more pronounced on the croisillon panel of one lamp. One upper corner of each lamp with an indentation to one side, each measuring approximately 1/4 inch. The shades have recently been replaced and are in excellent condition overall. The lamps present very elegantly in person and this model is particularly attractive in gilt bronze. Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.
