silver, champlevé enamel
impressed JEAN GOULDEN LXXXI, dated 29 and with the artist's silver hallmark
7/8 x 5 3/8 x 3 1/8 in. (2.2 x 13.7 x 7.9 cm)
Overall in very good condition. The silver surfaces present with light surface scratches and scuffing throughout as well as scattered areas of light oxidation concentrated to the edges, the recessed areas and the interior of the case. The silver with very minimal tarnish concentrated to the edges and the interior of the case, which can be carefully polished at the client’s discretion. Two corner edges of the lid present with some very minor bending, not affecting movement or functionality. The enamel retains its bright colors which include black and luminous emerald green on the lid as well as deep royal blue on the interior of the lid visible when the case is open. The blue enamel surface presents with very slightly irregular application which are inherent to production and to the artist’s practice. A particularly exuberant design by Goulden displaying a strong graphic composition and radiant coloration.
