Overall in very good condition. The wooden surfaces have recently been refinished by a professional conservator and present very well overall. The richly figured Macassar ebony surfaces present beautifully, with scattered surface scratches throughout, occasional minor abrasions and crazing to the wood concentrated to the edges and corners. The upper, proper left corner of the console with two areas of minor loss to the Macassar ebony veneer, each measuring approximately 1 x 1 inch and 1/4 x 1/4 inch. The wooden surfaces with occasional and minor hairline separations at the seams and joints consistent with age (stable). The edges and corners of the piece present with evidence of some occasional prior restorations and areas of in-painting which are not visually distracting. The shelving areas with more concentrated scratches and discolorations to the wooden surfaces consistent with gentle use. The silvered metal handles in very good condition overall with very light pitting consistent with age which is not visible unless closely inspected. The drawers are in functional condition. A rare and chic model by Ruhlmann in very good condition which exhibits his superlative use of Macassar ebony.
