Jean Mayodon

Pair of Candlesticks

circa 1930

glazed stoneware

monogrammed JM

10 1/8 in. (25.8 cm) high each

5 in. (12.5 cm) diameter each

Overall in very good condition. The ceramic surfaces combine beautiful gold, blue and grey glazes. The glaze presents with a slightly irregular application inherent to the making and the artist’s practice. One area under the bobeche of one candlestick presents with very minor inpainting covering an area measuring approximately 1 inch wide and not visible unless inspected under blacklight.

The bobeches with some very minor wax residue to the interior consistent with use.
