AN INLAID MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK, LATE 18TH CENTURY AND LATER


13½-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, signed Richd Ketty, Dublin, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and ringed winding holes, the added arch applied with a miniature portrait on ivory of a lady, the movement striking on a later coiled gong, the associated case with swan neck cresting and fluted hood pillars, shaped trunk door flankied by reeded pilasters, the trunk and plinth with later neoclassical inlay, on replaced ogee bracket feet; the hood door with a presentation plaque inscribed Presented to Viscount Powerscourt, M.V.O. by the officers of 1st Battn. Irish Guards.

230cm., 90½in. high

Dial is rubbed and lacking silvering, minute and seconds hands replaced, arch and portrait added later. Movement appears to be complete but is very dirty and will require clean and service, striking converted for gong with replaced hammer. Associated case is lacking central finial to cresting, later, Edwardian, inlay to trunk and plinth, old scuff, marks and minor losses throughout, front feet replaced, rear feet lacking. With pendulum, two weights and trunk door key but no winder.
