Bulgari’s ‘Parentesi’ jewels, first designed in 1982, became instant icons of the decade. Impactful, abstract and immediately recognizable, the stylized “parenthesis” was the perfect complement to the '80s wardrobe, offering a new informality in high jewelry. Inspired by limestone building blocks used in ancient Roman architecture, the 'Parentesi' design would eventually inspire a series of adaptations including the zig-zag Spiga and twin hearts of Doppio Cuore. The present example was made in the '90s, when Bulgari also began to offer the design in white gold, in line with the fashion trend at the time.
