One of the best known contemporary Czech artists, Krištof Kintera graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague before continuing his studies at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. The range of Kintera’s work is broad and includes smaller sculptures as well as monumental commissions for public spaces. The initial building materials for his works often include consumer products, and electrical parts, such as plastic balls, drink cans, chandeliers, washing machines, bicycles, used batteries or printed circuit boards. Kintera’s creations are technically challenging works, which move, speak, and produce smoke or sparkles, and he pays thorough attention not only to their appearance, function and message but also to their mechanics.
