Madrassi began his studies in Rome before travelling to Paris, where he became the pupil of Pierre-Jules Cavalier at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He then joined the studio of Carrier-Belleuse whose influence is evident in Madrassi's lyrical style. He settled in France and took French nationality.
