In the same way that William-Adolphe Bouguereau often drew inspiration from sculptural compositions for his paintings, sculptors were similarly inspired by his work. L'Amour Vainqueur was painted in 1886; it sold at Christie's, New York, May 25, 1984, lot 79, and is now housed in a private collection.
