Description

[IAN FLEMING]--[BOY'S OWN PAPER OFFICE]

THE BOY'S OWN ANNUAL. LONDON: "BOY'S OWN PAPER OFFICE", [1918]

4to, FROM THE LIBRARY OF IAN FLEMING, presentation inscription ("Ian | from Mama | Christmas 1918") on front free endpaper, numerous illustrations, original green cloth, lettered in red and gilt, design in colours on upper cover and spine, with additional design in black on lower cover, colour illustrated endpapers, collector's green buckram cloth folding case

UNDOUBTEDLY A BOYHOOD INSPIRATION FOR THE CREATION OF JAMES BOND.

A well-read and, it seems, much-loved volume from Fleming's childhood full of daring adventures, exciting escapes and jingoistic japes of empire.

Many years later Fleming pasted a photograph of himself in naval uniform to the verso of the frontispiece, giving evidence that the volume was indeed of significance.
