A ST. JAMES'S (CHARLES GOUYN) PORCELAIN GILT-METAL MOUNTED BONBONNIERE IN THE FORM OF VENUS AND CUPID CIRCA 1751-54


modeled with Cupid in Venus' lap, the two holding a pair of billing doves, on a grassy mound base edged in flowers, the enamel cover, perhaps Battersea, finely painted on the interior and exterior with flower sprays.

The visible porcelain and enamel cover are in generally good condition. The hinge of the mount has lost its pin and, as a result, the cover separates from the box when it is opened.
