A PAIR OF WEDGWOOD DARK-BLUE AND WHITE JASPER-DIP OVAL PLAQUES LATE 18TH CENTURY
one with Venus in her chariot drawn by swans, the other with cupids watering swans, both with impressed uppercase WEDGWOOD mark.
Width 7⅞ in.
Both plaques have been broken in half and restored back. On the first plaque the break runs diagonally across from nearly midpoint at the top to a point on the opposite side beneath the two doves; on the second the crack starts at about midpoint at the top and runs downwards through the swan's outstretched wing to the opposite edge.
