A PAIR OF MINTONS PÂTE-SUR-PÂTE PEACOCK-BLUE-GROUND VASES AND COVERS 1892
shape number 2969, decorated by Marc Louis Solon, each signed L Solon, incised, each of ovoid form affixed on either side of the shoulder with two scrollwork handles, the cover with a molded leaf terminal finial, decorated in white slip, one with a maiden throwing a bucket of water at a flying putto, the other with a maiden waving torches at a putto, the respective reverse of each with an upturned water jar or an extinguished torch surrounded by butterflies, the peacock-blue ground enriched with small gilded stars, the neck and foot with gilded scale panels, crowned globe Mintons marks in gold, impressed MINTONS marks, date code for 1892.
