shape number 2969, decorated by Marc Louis Solon, each signed L Solon, incised, each of ovoid form affixed on either side of the shoulder with two scrollwork handles, the cover with a molded leaf terminal finial, decorated in white slip, one with a maiden throwing a bucket of water at a flying putto, the other with a maiden waving torches at a putto, the respective reverse of each with an upturned water jar or an extinguished torch surrounded by butterflies, the peacock-blue ground enriched with small gilded stars, the neck and foot with gilded scale panels, crowned globe Mintons marks in gold, impressed MINTONS marks, date code for 1892.

Condition Report

Both in overall good appearance, some wear to gilding at rims. The vase on the left of the catalogue illustration: the loop of the right handle re-stuck at the upper terminals and underside of protruding loop. The acanthus leaf of the lower terminal with a small chip and minor chips to extremities of both handles. The vase on the right of the catalogue illustration: the left handle with three chips at acanthus leaf edges. The other handle with more minor chips at same locations. One cover with a flat chip to acanthus leaf molding. Both with very minor wear to gilding.
