A PAIR OF MINTONS PÂTE-SUR-PÂTE IVORY-GROUND VASES CIRCA 1882-83
shape number 1013, by Henry Hollins, one signed in white slip with HH monogram, each white-ground vase reserved with a green-ground panel decorated in white slip, one with a cherub drawing on a pad, the other at a toilette, of slender shape affixed on either side with a gilt ring handle, tied with green ribbon, the whole enriched in raised gilding, crowned globe Mintons marks in puce, impressed MINTONS marks, one with date code for 1882 and another, partially legible, probably 1883.
Height 13⅝ in.
The vase in the right of the catalogue illustration has two fine hairline cracks to the rim, the longest of which extends to the top edge of the green ribbon of the handle. The other vase is in good condition.
There is very slight wear to the gilding on the top each of each rim, so it is possible the vases are lacking covers. The vases are in good appearance.
