A MINTONS PÂTE-SUR-PÂTE BRONZE-GREEN-GROUND VASE, 'THE TUG OF WAR' CIRCA 1902
shape number 3044, decorated by Marc Louis Solon, signed L. Solon, incised, of baluster form with a waisted trumpet neck, applied at the shoulder with handles, enriched in gilding and with strapwork terminals, the body decorated in white slip with two maidens toying with a figure of cupid, standing on a stepped pedestal base, the reverse with a cupid in clouds tied at the ankles and wrists being pulled clusters of smaller cupids, the neck and foot enriched with gilt-scale bands and an anthemion band, crowned globe MINTONS marks in gold, impressed MINTONS mark, indistinct impressed date code for of a swan for 1895-1900 incised X. mark, gilt numeral 2.
