For a note on the Patek Philippe Ellipse, please refer to lot 16.
The reference 3948, produced between 1982 and 1996, was the first Ellipse to feature a subsidiary seconds dial.
Dated from 1988, the present reference 3948 is powered by the hand-wound caliber 215 S. The yellow gold Favre-Perret case, still bearing the protective sticker to its back, is complemented by an understated white dial with Roman numerals, described by Patek Philippe as “Porcelain White”.
The present 18ct yellow gold Ellipse reference 3948J is further fitted with its original Patek Philippe alligator strap with 18ct yellow gold signed Ellipse buckle and comes with its Certificate of Origin, an Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on January 28, 1988 as well as its presentation case with the original matching sales tag.
