The Cadenas, or "lock" in French is an elegant and discreet design, allowing only the wearer to see the watch dial. In the early 20th century, it was considered unsophisticated for a lady to check the time in public or even wear a watch! The Cadenas is said to have been conceived at the request of the Duchess of Windsor to combat this issue of propriety. Van Cleef & Arpels has since made it a staple in their timepiece collections.

This modern edition of the Cadenas is attractively dressed diamonds and fit for any occasion.
