1819-1909
The New Earrings
signed and dated l.l.: W.P. Frith 1875
oil on canvas
109 by 76cm., 43 by 30in.
The picture is lined, which is providing a stable structural support. There are a few isolated surface abrasions in the top right corner and one further minor abrasion in the bottom right corner. There is isolated fine craquelure, only visibe upon close inspection. The paint surface is a little dirty and may benefit from a light clean.
Under ultraviolet light there are minor infillings to the face, throat and arms; further minor flecked retouchings in the background. The varnish appears slightly opaque.
This lot is sold unframed.
