The sheet is sound and is flat in the mount. There are two surface scratches to the trees in the centre of the composition. There are localised areas of staining to the corners and along the lewer edge on the left side. There are faint foxing marks in the sky. Unexamined out of the frame.
The watercolour is contained in a simple wood and gold-coloured frame with a clean mount and under glass.

Purchased in the 1930s by Charles Edward James of Lilleshall, Shropshire and thence by descent to his great-granddaughter
