the reverse bearing a paper label inscribed Cousin Fanny told us this was Eliza Carolina Rice Blake wife of William Hallowell Blake, her parents painted by Moses B. Russell who was born in Woodstock, N.H. in 1810 m. Clarissa Peters of Andover in Salem, Mass in 1839 and died Jan 30 1884. / He and his wife had a studio on School St., Boston, Mass and were prominent portrait painters / A miniature painting of Fales Hazard in Newport Hist. Society by him was exhibited at Boston Museum of Fine Arts 1957 and one of Miss Deborah Kimball by him is also in Catalogue of American Miniatures B.M.F.A 1957 / We have portraits also of Robert and Anne Blake in oils by Moses B. Russell, 1847 / Jon Gordy
