together, FIRST EDITIONS, 2 works in 4 volumes, folio (413 x 247mm.), uniformly bound in contemporary mottled calf gilt, minor spotting, rubbed with minor loss to extremities
Pococke travelled in the eastern Mediterranean from 1737 to 1740. Volume 1 of A Description of the East is devoted to Egypt; volume 2 to Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia, Cyprus, Crete, the Greek islands, Asia Minor, Thrace, Greece and other parts of Europe.
