A collection of fourteen photographs, 1929-1931


14 silver prints (160 x 200mm.), unmounted all but one stamped on the reverse 'Royal Air Force / Crown copyright reserved' and dated by hand, some with contemporary ink notes and later pencil notes on the reverse, housed in a portfolio labelled 'On His Majesty's Service' and typed 'Persian Gulf' on the front and 'Confidential' on the reverse, 7 photographs with hole punch in the image


RARE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE GULF, including Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Sharjah and Kuwait.

The photographs show a conference between Arab sheikhs, including sheiks of Bahrain, and British officials in April 1929; a view of Hormuz; two views of Bayt al Falaj fort, Oman; an Omani Wali on board HMS Lupin; a view of the coast of Oman (Ghubbat al Ghazira); the palace, Doha, Qatar; and 7 aerial photograph reconnaissance photographs of Khor Fakkan (Sharjah); two of Muscat (Oman); Ras al Khaimah; Kuwait; Manama (Bahrain); and Gwadar (an enclave of Oman).
