FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, 4to (230 x 180mm.), dedication leaf, 37 engraved plates and maps, some folding, title printed in red and black (the red ink offset onto a map), contemporary panelled calf, spine gilt with Baillie’s golden fleece motif, without Directions to the Binder leaf
A FINE COPY. “This first English translation contains the same engravings as the French original, but is preferred to the latter because it contains a postscript by Edmond Halley… which corrects certain geographical errors made Frézier” (Hill).
