Arabic manuscript on cream paper, 236 leaves plus 3 fly-leaves, 9 lines to the page, written in Maghribi in black ink, ruled in red and blue, important words written in blue or red, f.1b with a polychrome and gold heading (‘unwan), numerous gold and polychrome headings or chapter divisions throughout, illustrations of the tombs of the Caliphs (f.16b) and the minbar of the Prophet (f.17a), in dark red gilt and stamped leather binding, the doublures with gilt decoration, with flap
