AN ILLUMINATED COLLECTION OF PRAYERS, INCLUDING DALA’IL AL-KHAYRAT, COPIED BY OSMAN FROM TUFAT, TURKEY, OTTOMAN, DATED 1161 AH/1748-49 AD
Arabic manuscript on cream watermarked paper, 96 leaves plus 2 fly-leaves, 11 lines to the page, written in naskh in black ink, ruled in gold, green and red, verses separated by polychrome and gold rosettes, gold and polychrome cartouches marking the chapters, polychrome and gold verse markers in the form of flowers in the margins, f.1b and f.2a with a polychrome and gold heading (‘unwan), the text written within clouds and against a gold ground and the borders decorated with interlacing scrolls, illustrations of Mecca (f.14b) and Medina (f.15a), in stamped and gilt leather binding, with flap
