Rolex debuted the first Cosmograph Daytona with an in-house movement in 2000 via the ref. 116520. Previously, the brand relied on a Zenith movement that they modified to meet their standards. The debut of a completely Rolex-produced Daytona in stainless steel made the ref. 116520 one of the hottest sports watches on the market. Today, many collectors seek this particular used Rolex for its incredible history and wearable style. Its feature set includes a traditional 40mm Oyster case worn on a matching flat-link Oyster bracelet. The bezel is in steel as well and displays a 400-kilometer Tachymeter scale. Chronograph triggers join the waterproof screw-down crown and can be used by the wearer to measure increments of time while driving. The black dial focuses on optimal visibility, displaying the time via luminous markers, central hands filled with lume plots, and contrasting silver registers.
Included with this ref. 116520 Daytona is the original box and papers, which correspond to a purchase date of July, 2013. The watch and bracelet are free from significant marks and blemishes, with minor scuffs on the clasp being the only visible signs of wear and use.
