Lined. The surface appears bright with vibrant colors. There is a faintly visible craquelure in the sky at upper center and on the older sister's blue dress. Three blanched repairs are visible to the naked eye: an area 1 inch in diameter in the sky, a 4 inch long vertical line extending from the boy's proper right knee to his foot, and a horizontal line underneath the younger sister's foot (all fluoresce under UV). Minor frame abrasion is visible along the upper left edge and there is an area of bloomed varnish near the upper left corner. Under UV: in addition to the aforementioned repairs, there are a few dashes of inpainting to address prior craquelure in the sky at upper right, and a very few isolated pin dots of retouching in the sky at upper center and in the lower left corner.
