4 parts in one volume, folio (351 x 240mm.), engraved title, 3 divisional titles, engraved illustrations throughout, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces, old mottled sheep, printer's waste used as endpapers, small loss to lower corner of title, occasional staining, rebacked and repaired


This edition has been corrected posthumously by Errard's nephew "contre les grandes erreurs de l'impression contrefaicte en Allemaigne" (for which see lot 155).

Henry Yelverton, 1st Viscount Longueville (1664-1704), crowned initials "H.L." on covers; Sir William Chambers (1723-1796), Scottish-Swedish architect, armorial bookplate; Bertram, 4th Earl of Ashburnham (1797-1878), with his shelfmark in red ink on inside front cover, 28.H (crossed through and replaced with) I, his sale in these rooms, 3 July 1897, lot 1513, 16s, to Pickering & Chatto, purchased from them on 25 August 1899 for £1-18s, by; Thomas Francis Fremantle, armorial bookplate
