FIRST EDITION, 4to (237 x 157mm.), engraved title, engravings in the text, old vellum, dedication leaf misbound but present, occasional dampstaining or worming, lacking ties, slightly soiled

The first book printed in Chaumont (and indeed the only one printed there in the sixteenth century). Boillot served in the army of Henri IV and was responsible for the supply of saltpetre, the main ingredient of gunpowder.
