Seventeenth-century Italian manuscript treatise for the instruction of bombardiers, about artillery and cannons, with illustrations


comprising a dialogue between a bombardier and his master titled "Discorso fatto in Dialogo trà il Maestro e lo Scollaro Bombardre nel quale si comprende tutto quello che è necessario per saper ben maneggiare l'Artiglieria", written in brown ink in one large gathering, including 15 pages of ink drawings laid into the manuscript, and a second section beginning on page 105 titled "Prattica del Can[on]e", in three small gatherings, and separate indices for the two sections at the end 

folio (c.304 x 205mm.), 134 pages, paginated 5-98 and 105-147, with blanks and inserted leaves, eagle and coat-of-arms watermarks, contemporary carta rustica, inscription to front cover ("1673 Instrucione a Scollari Bombardieri"), browning to the laid-down drawings, some worming and several small holes
