In May 1969 Ringo and his family set sail for New York aboard the newly re-launched Queen Elizabeth 2. Filming for the Magic Christian had almost been completed and the holiday was a thank you from Commonwealth United. Joining the Starr family on board were co-star Peter Sellers and director Joe McGrath. After the Atlantic crossing the party flew to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for a two week stay. Ringo had previously visited Paradise Island with his bandmates for the filming of Help!
