The canvas has not been lined. With the exception of one small spot of strengthening in one of the minarets in the upper left quadrant, visible under ultra-violet light, this work is in good condition and is ready to hang.

In this evocative scene on the Golden Horn, the Kaiser's ship SMY Hohenzollern II is likely identifiable on the right. The Süleymaniye Mosque - the largest in the city from the Ottoman era - is visible on top of the hill.
