Eugene van Maldeghem (1813-1867), also known as Romaan Eugeen Van Maldeghem, was a Flemish painter of landscapes, portraits and historical scenes, and a skilled watercolourist. He trained under Gustave Wappers in Antwerp and was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1843. He represented Orientalist subjects in a romantic way, often displaying an interest in everyday life.
