painted in the workshop of Franz Ferdinand Mayer of Pressnitz,after engravings by Nicolaes Berghem, of squat-form supported on three paw-feet, affixed with a scroll handle and spout, painted with vignettes of peasant scenes and a large fly, with gilded foliate scrollwork bands at the rims, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue

In good appearance. Restoration to one paw-foot.


Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
