MR BEDFORD'S COLLECTION OF BRITISH MARITIME RELATED OBJECTS
comprising: an oak 1ft. rule made from timber from H.M.S. Victory with an engraved presentation plaque, 30.5cm. long; a piece of keel from H.M. Brig Badger with engraved plaque, 10.2cm. long; a relic from H.M.S. Magicienne in the form of an anchor on an oak base, 13.5cm. wide; a bronze disc cut from the salvaged pump rod of S.S. Sirius, 8.7cm. diameter; a large Victorian glass rummer engraved W.F. / Thurston' to one side and 'Friends' and a ship to the other, 9.5cm. high; and a pair of miniature bronze 'saluting' cannon, barrel length 29.5cm.
Generally in good condition with typical signs of wear.
The ruler with plaque engraved 'This piece of wood was cut from a timber of H.M.S. Victory and presented by Capt Graeme late an Officer of that Ship as an heirloom to his old & trusty messmate in Andromeda & Granicus' The Rev. T.B Wells now the worthy rector of Portlemouth'
