A GEORGE III WHITE MARBLE AND ORMOLU TIMEPIECE, MATTHEW BOULTON, CIRCA 1775


2-inch enamel dial, the spring barrel movement with lever escapement, the plain three-arm balance with double screwed cock mounted on the backplate, the drum mounted within a marble plinth surmounted by a figure of Diana and with ram's mask and medallion mounts, on a stepped base 

35cm. 13¾in. high


Condition Report

Dial has chips around the winding hole. Movement complete and running at time of cataloguing but would benefit from a clean and fresh oil. Case in generally good condition but marble is city and discoloured and has minor edge chips, gilding rubbed in places and with marks to the plinth. No winder.
