LATE 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY

Marillier, in English Tapestries of the 18th century, London, 1930, notes a complete set of this series known as the Naked Boys series, at Cotehele, Cornwall. One panel was woven with the name John Vanderbank (d. 1717), the pre-eminent director of the Great Wardrobe, and included the same bead-and-reel outer border.
