A PAIR OF DERBY BOCAGE CANDLESTICK FIGURES ALLEGORICAL OF 'LIBERTY' AND 'MATRIMONY', CIRCA 1770-75


each modeled as a shepherd or shepherdess seated and leaning against the balustrade of a low wall before a flowering bocage between two foliate-molded candle nozzles, 'Liberty' with a dove perched on his knee and a dog seated at his feet, 'Matrimony', with a recumbent sheep and holding a birdcage.
