Cristina Esteras Martin, La Plateria en el Reino de Guatemala, 1994, p. 226-227, no. 92

According to Martin's publication, this is the only known work by Francisco Javier de Avila, who is documented in the workshop of his father, Gregorio de Avila, in 1787.

The maker's mark is "F.X. Abila", either an alternative spelling or an unknown maker from the Abila family. It is also possible that it is the stamp of an owner.
