ROMAN ROSSO ANTICO MARBLE HERM BUST OF DIONYSUS, CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D.
with long beard composed of two tiers of wavy curls, each terminating in a drilled volute, and eyes recessed for inlay, his wavy hair parted in the centre, surmounted by a wreath of ivy leaves and berries, and falling in spiral curls above the ears, and long locks over the shoulders, a hole and a vertical channel in back for attachment, probably to a table leg (trapezophoros).
