Description

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, US STYLE A POSTER, ROGER KASTEL, 1980

Far fewer of this size poster were printed as they were mainly used for drive-in cinemas and special displays. It is slightly larger than the standard American poster (27 x 41 in.). Although it features the same artwork by Roger Kastel, it was printed on heavier paper stock, which led to a greater saturation of colour on the paper. This poster was distributed unfolded, with many getting folded over time. However, this one remains unfolded. This piece is known by collectors as The Gone with the Wind style, as the central artwork of Han Solo embracing Princess Leia is reminiscent to the American Gone with the Wind poster.

40 x 30 in. (102 x 76 cm)
